Getting started
X1 Pay runs at app.x1pay.me. Nothing is installed, and nothing is sent until you say so.
What you need
- An X1 wallet. Any Solana-standard wallet works, because X1 uses the same key format. Set the wallet's network to X1 before you approve anything.
- Optional: an @name. With a primary @name from X1ID, people can pay you by name. Without one, they pay your private address instead. You can add a name later.
Turn on X1 Pay
Connect your wallet
Open the app and connect the wallet you already use.
Approve one message
Your wallet asks you to sign a message. It's free and sends nothing. The first time, your wallet asks twice, to check that it signs the same way every time.
Only sign this message on the site it names. Anyone who has that signature can spend your X1 Pay money. Keep your wallet's auto-approve for message signing turned off: an auto-approved unlock would let any site get that signature without asking you.
Choose a recovery password
X1 Pay saves a locked backup file to your downloads. If you ever change wallet apps, that file and its password are the only way back to your money. Nobody can reset the password, FortiBlox included. See Backup and recovery.
Connect your @name (if you have one)
X1 Pay publishes a few small records on your @name so people can pay the name. Your wallet asks you to approve each one and shows the small record fee, which your wallet pays. The records reveal nothing about your payments. You can skip this and do it later.
If this wallet has no primary @name, that's fine: people pay you by your private address, under Receive. Set a primary name on X1ID later to be payable as @name.
Already have a backup?
Choose I already have a backup on the start screen, open your backup file (or paste its text) and enter its password. No wallet signature is needed. See Restoring.
Next visits: unlock
Each visit you unlock X1 Pay with the same free signature. Your keys are kept in an isolated part of the browser tab while you use it. They are never stored on the device or sent anywhere.
Every unlock also checks your keys' fingerprint against the one your @name publishes. If they don't match, X1 Pay hides balances and tells you why. See The fingerprint check.
When you're done, choose Lock X1 Pay under More, or close the tab.
